OUR HUMMEL FAMILY CAME FROM ENINGEN, GERMANY ON THE SHIP "MARGARET" THAT LANDED IN PHILADELPHIA, PA. ON THE 19th DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1804Casper Hummel, his wife Magdalena (Wanger) Hummel and four children along with his brother David Hummel and his wife Margaretha (Wanger) Hummel. (Two brothers married two sisters) and seven children.
Casper Hummel, my gggggrandfather was born in Eningen Unter Achalm, Germany on the 29th of January 1768. He was the son of Jacob Hummel and Marie Barbara Hofstetter. Casper married Magdelena Wagner on the 1st day of August 1793. Magdelena was born on the 28th of January 1772. Casper and Magdelena attended the Evangelische Kirch in Eningen. Casper died before 1820 in Philadelphia, PA.,USA. Magdelena died on the 15th of December 1832 in Philadelphia, PA.,USA. They had four children. Maria Barbara Hummel, Born 11th August 1797 in Eningen. Johnnes Hummel, Born 16 July 1797. Johann Georg Hummel, Born 10th December 1799. Anna Marie 2 May 1802. All were born in Eningen, Germany.
David Hummel the brother of Casper was Born 2 January 1761. David married Magdelena's sister, Margaretha Wanger on the 21 April 1789 in Eningen. They had seven children. Johannes 02.05.1790; Jakob 17.11.1791; Kasper 18.12. 1793; Michael 09.08.1795; George 12.08.1797; Ludwig 04.09.1799; Agnes birth unknown. David and Casper came to America together on the same ship.
This information came from my research while in Germany in 1992. My daughter Karen and I went to ENINGEN and did the research in the local Church.

08-100-23 CASPAR (HUMEL) HUMMEL born in Eningen, Kingdom of
Württemberg, Germany on the 29th of January 1768. He was baptized and attended the “Evangelische” Lutheran Church in Eningen. He was the son of JACOB HUMMEL (07-100-24) and MARIE BARBARA HOFSTETTER (07-101-25).
CASPAR died in Philadelphia, PA about 1815 according to his Will.
08-101-26 CASPAR married MAGDELENA WAGNER on the 1st day of August
1793 in Eningen, Germany.
Magdalena was born in Eningen, Germany on the 28th day of January 1772 and died in Philadelphia, PA on the 15th day of December 1832 at the age of 60.
Magdalena was the daughter of JOHANNES WAGNER, (07-300-364) Born 11.05.1736, Died, 17.11.1798 married 01.05.1765, AGATHA (MEULEN) WAGNER, (07-301-365) Born, 28.08.1739, Died 28.05.1803
CASPAR, his wife Magdelena, emigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. on the ship Margaret of which E. C. Gardner was Master. It arrived on the 19th day of September 1804.

This Rendition was obtained by the Peabody Ship Museum in MA.
CASPAR is listed as CASPAR Humel, wife, 4 children, 36, ENINGEN (this was a mistake - I found him in Eningen), distiller, 6 ft., dark brown hair.
Also his brother DAVID HUMMEL (08-112-520) came with him on the same ship. With his wife and 7 children, David is listed as a tobacco box-maker, 6 ft., dark brown hair.
ENINGEN is south. On a map find Tübingen and Reutlingen. Next to Reutlingen is ENINGEN. 48 degree 29’ North Latitude, 9 degree 15’ Longitude in the Federal Republic of Germany. The village is mostly Protestant with 4,313 inhabited in 1910
The town lies 463 meters above Sea Level.
It is a little north of the HOHENZOLLERN CASTLE. It is 25-27 miles southeast of Gartringen on a back road. Rt. 28 to Rt. 312.
In the 1806 Philadelphia City Directory, Casper is listed as living at 445 North 3rd Street, In the 1810 Philadelphia City Directory again he is listed as living at 445 North 3rd Street again as a Snuffbox maker.
In the 1808&1809 City Directory a listing of G & D Hummel as Snuffbox Maker living at 445 North 3rd Street. (This is Casper and his brother David in the Snuffbox making business)
According to the will of Casper Hummel/Hummel he died in the year 1815.
His wife is listed in the 1820 City Directory as a Magdalena Hummel as a widow living at 453 North 3rd Street.

Last Will & Testament of CASPER HUMMELL
In the name of God, Amen.
I Casper Hummell of the Northern Liberties of the city of Philadelphia yoman, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, praised be the Lord for all his Mercises. Do hereby make my last Will and Testament, in manner following that is to say, first I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid & satisfied as conveniently can be, after my decease.
Then, I will and direct that my beloved wife, Magetenia Hummell shall have the use interests and income of all my Estate, real & personal whatsoever and wheresoever during all the term of her natural life. Nevertheless that my children may have their schooling out of the same and the youngest child is forteen years of age. Item I it is my will that if my said beloved wife should change and be married after my decease that any future husband whom she may hereafter have, shall not have any rights or interest whatever therein, neither shall the same be liable for his debts, but the same shall be held and review by her may said wife on hand and dispose of by her, for her sole and separate use for her self and my children. Item it is further my will that if my said beloved wife shall change and be married after my decease, that the remainder Estate shall be her past and the remaining interest to be equally divided amongst my children. Item it is further my will that if my oldest daughter Barbara Hummel shall get married that she the said Barbara shall have one fether bed out of my Estate. Item I do nominate and appoint my Esteemed friend John Andrew Leibbrandt and John Hummell to be my Executrix of this my last will & testament. Lastly, I do revoke all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made and published in witnesf whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Seventeenth day of May in the year of our Lord and One Thousand Eight hundred & Forteen.

Philadelphia June 1st 1814 Then personally appeared Jacob Belsterling and Thomas Sailer witnefses to the within Will and on their solemn oaths according to law did depose and say that they did see and hear Casper Hummell the Testator in the said Will named, sign, seal, publish and delare the said Will for his last Will and Testament that all the doing thereof, he was of sound mind memory & understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief.
